Common Questions

Everything you need to know before you get started

What is a Super Visa?

The Parent and Grandparent Super Visa is a temporary resident permit that allows parents and grandparents to stay for up to 2 years in Canada per visit. It is valid for up to 10 years. A regular multiple-entry visa is also valid for up to 10 years, but only allows stays of up to 6 months per visit.

Why do I need Super Visa Insurance?

To obtain a Super Visa applicants must have valid insurance. Super Visa applications need to be accompanied with proof that they have private medical insurance from a Canadian insurance company valid for a minimum of 1 years from a Canadian Insurance Company and that it:

  • Covers healthcare, hospitalization and repatriation
  • Provides a minium coverage of $100,000
  • Is valid for each entry to Canada and available for review by a port of entry officer

What if my parents'/grandparents' trip gets cancelled?

Full refunds are available as long as the effective date of the insurance hasn't passed. Also, the effective date of insurance can be changed as long as it hasn't passed.

What if my parents/grandparents return home early?

Partial refunds are available in such cases, as long as there has not been a claim on the policy.

Does this insurance meet the Government's requirements for Super Visa Applications?

Yes! Absolutely. The minimum to meet the Government's requirements is insurance of at least $100,000 for a duration of 365 days. In fact, we offer many variations on the insurance plan that exceed these requirements. If you are not sure which is right for you one of our experts would be glad to help!

Will the insurance cover pre-existing conditions?

Yes, in most cases, as long as the condition is considered stable. For greater detail it's best to speak to one of our advisors.

How do I make a claim?

When you receive your welcome package included will be wallet cards. Keep these on you at all times. If you need to make a claim the number to contact is listed.
